Prvn\u00ed informace o Unije p\u0159inesl ben\u00e1tsk\u00fd jezuita Alberto Fortis ve sv\u00e9m slavn\u00e9m d\u00edle Cesta po Dalm\u00e1cii z roku 1774. Unije m\u00e1 m\u00e1lo obyvatel, kte\u0159\u00ed \u017eij\u00ed skromn\u00fdm zp\u016fsobem \u017eivota. Hlavn\u00edmi produkty jsou d\u0159evo, med a vosk.<\/p>\n
Mo\u0159e kolem ostrova je bohat\u00e9 na ryby, p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm na tu\u0148\u00e1ky, makrely, sardinky a tak\u00e9 olihn\u011b.<\/p>\n

V roce 1921 dos\u00e1hl ostrov Unije nejvy\u0161\u0161\u00edho po\u010dtu obyvatel, a to 783, ale po tomto datu mnoho ostrovan\u016f emigrovalo, v\u011bt\u0161inou do USA. Dnes se obyvatel\u00e9 Unije, z nich\u017e mnoz\u00ed se vr\u00e1tili z Ameriky, \u017eiv\u00ed p\u0159ev\u00e1\u017en\u011b zem\u011bd\u011blstv\u00edm a cestovn\u00edm ruchem.<\/p>\n
